Antivax movement imploding in Oz.

Australia’s anti-vaccine movement is collapsing

Australia's anti-vaccine activists seized on COVID-19 and grew into an energetic and active movement. Now, their cause is falling apart.

The founder of Australia’s biggest anti-vaccine group looks exhausted.

In a video posted to Reignite Democracy Australia’s remaining social media accounts this week, a weary Monica Smit complains to her followers about the costs of running the group and employing staff as she asks for money.

“If we don’t get more funding, we’re going to have to cut down what we can do,” she pleads...

Despite its best efforts of creating viral medical misinformation, storming MPs’ offices and leading protests, it has been unsuccessful. Australia is one of the most vaccinated nations in the world and is emerging from the pandemic with one of the lowest death tolls. Even half of those aged five to 11 have received at least one vaccine dose, despite anti-vaccine groups having tried and failed to capitalise on parent’s natural squeamishness about young children.

Now, Reignite Democracy Australia — and the rest of Australia’s anti-vaccine movement — is showing signs that its best days are behind it.

Reignite Democracy Australia has been begging for funding through platform DonorBox and through their app RDASocial, but neither of those show how much money it’s earning. It lists its cryptocurrency wallet’s address as one way of donating to it. The wallet has received a total of US$7.35...

...the movement’s lasting influence will be the connective tissue created between the people sucked in by lies and rumours. Australians who were tepid or unsure about vaccine safety are now hooked into networks of conspiracy and extremism via apps like Telegram. Even as their white-hot anger and fear diminishes, they remain disenfranchised and sceptical, if not outright hostile, of the government and our institutions. These dormant concerns and connections are ready to be re-activated by the right moment or person.

But those watching the movement warn against assuming that the movement will peacefully ebb into obscurity, as it was before COVID-19. ASIO chief Mike Burgess warned about violence from radicalised anti-vaccine, anti-lockdown protesters just a month ago. The Australian reported that police were expected to charge high-profile leaders of the movement for incitement to violence, although this has yet to eventuate.

Online activists and researchers who’ve been tracking Australia’s anti-vaccine movement told Crikey that a new generation of more radical anti-vaccine protesters who are steeped in sovereign citizen ideology have taken the reins of the movement. Campsites with the leftovers from February’s Convoy protests — led by people like Jim “Iron Thunderbolt” Greer and Dave “Guru” Graham — are festering just outside Canberra. Diehards have spent weeks in squalid conditions, becoming increasingly detached from mainstream society and submerged in toxic communities using violent rhetoric.

Outside the Lodge on an overcast day earlier this week, an anti-vaccine campaigner spoke on a microphone at cars whizzing past. She told a handful of other assembled activists, three sitting in the gutter while one listlessly waved a giant red ensign flag, that the Australian anti-vaccine movement had hit a wall.

It is becoming comical and ironic to listen to you spread so much disinformation and lies. It is also ironic, that the flashing opening on your own link, is also BEGGING FOR CASH!! Or, is this an unintentional example of "special pleading"?

We get it! Anyone who chooses not to vaccinate themselves(or their children) with THIS vaccine(Cov-19), is automatically an "antivaxxer". And, as the name means, is against ALL vaccines. This is a lie! Anyone who chooses not to vaccinate themselves with THIS vaccine, is obviously a mindless victim of "ANTIVAXXER PROPAGANDA". There couldn't possibly be any other reason, right? Another lie.

Are you even capable of an objective thought? What do you think sparked the creation of these movement groups(like Antifa)? They were created because of a social injustice. Namely the suspension of civil liberties. There are many moronic toadies out there, that believe that even if ONE person becomes ill with an illness, that we should close down the entire country to protect all those who aren't sick. This would not be a proportionate response, right?

Because of these self-righteous, one-dimensional, and uninformed people, the lives of 95% of the population(all uninfected) were forced to be treated as though they were infected. Had people not been forced, shamed, or coerced into following these stringent restrictions and mandates, none of these movements would even exist. Some groups of people just love to be told what to do, and others just want to be left alone.

Maybe instead of demeaning, denigrating, dismissing, or misrepresenting this "antivaxxer propaganda", YOU MIGHT TRY ACTUALLY ADDRESSING THEIR CONCERNS! I think that the goal of these groups, is to stay vigilant to make sure this madness never happens again.

And thar she blows.....🤣

Shell, Shell, Shell still reeling from your abysmal performance with logical fallacies. Sadly, you're still getting it wrong.

There's no special pleading in that article. It's a factual article. Oh, and it happens to be from a left wing publication. My, my, it seems to demonstrate how loony and dangerous you and your fellow gaggle of anti-vaxxers are. You're divorced from reality and antithetical to public safety.

Alas, the movement that you belong to is riddled with right wing nutjobs like the Sovereign Citizens. And boy, did we see you swallow their Kool-Aid.

The article does show us the undoubted success of the vaccination program. Everyone sees it.

And that's why your numbers are in the toilet, Shell. The vast majority of Australians have seen you for the ranting, groundless loons that you are.

Are you hanging out with your fringe buddies on Telegram?

Hopefully, Shell, you and your mates can scrounge around for $2.65 and boost your movement's fighting fund to $10.

There… right there…. Needs to be sternly told to our hypocritical premier Dan …. He’s a danger as he has deliberately ignored medical advice re: mask wearing.
I made my own mind up… I wore it… only to be stared at all the mask-less shoppers.
Lately I now see…. More people have chosen to wear a mask. It’s nice to see people think and choose for themselves.
And I have noticed all the stickers on the ground to keep 1.5 metres apart (distancing etc) have all disappeared!
But apart from that choice of choosing to either wear it or not… I’m totally taken back by the way Dan has gone and ignored medical advice ….
The news last night…Royal childrens hospital… there’s a lot of sick children not getting in for treatment because hospital is over run with emergencies… children turned away after a 10 hour wait!
I don’t get it. There’s a high percentage of dble/triple/quadruple covid vaxxed people and yet there’s more sickness than ever?
My hubby had been called in to work as emergency because the young 26yr old lad had his booster shot (3rd jab) and became very ill.
He’s a good kid and never had a sick day off from work…. We were so concerned about him last night and hubby is still going in on standby today…in morning we see if the young guy is okay or not.

If people like YOU are the only ones saying so, THEN ABSOLUTELY NOT!! And, the bluffing continues!

I see you are still substituting completely biased, and uninformed insults and sarcasm, for an informed logical argument. What's the matter? Is logic and reality getting in the way of your confirmation bias?? I don't give a shit what "Crikey" is or isn't. Or, what political ideology it embraces. So spare my your silly distractions. I only care about what the article says. I'm not like people who see reality only as black and white, or as left and right. I don't prejudice myself, by putting people in categories, and then stereotype their ideas and beliefs accordingly. People are just more complicated than that. If you are a Liberal you're this, and if you are a Labor you're that. There are no shades in your world!

The article gave an absolutely biased and demeaning fake exposé on the anti-Covid-19 vaccination movement. Obviously catering o the vaccinated population. It was insinuating that the antivaxxer movement was failing and desperate for money. It also implied/insinuated that there is a threat by these antivaxxers. And, that the the vaxxers are winning(So keep taking those vaccines!). Just another media outlet trying to stir the pot to manufacture a conflict. Just to boost its own ratings and number of subscribers. I've never even heard of these groups! But, good on them!

What does their fundraising have to do with the justness of their cause? You're just looking for anything to support your being gullible enough to drink the Kool-Aid. Why again are you so worried about what I think? Anyone dumb enough to keep taking the same medication indefinitely, for a disease they don't even have, says everything about them! NOT ME!

The article does show us the undoubted success of the vaccination program. Everyone sees it.
It does show that the overwhelming majority of Australians have been vaccinated. So what? I wonder what that numbers would be, if those same people were NOT forced, coerced, shamed, threatened, fined, or arrested??

And that's why your numbers are in the toilet, Shell. The vast majority of Australians have seen you for the ranting, groundless loons that you are.
What numbers are you talking about that are in the toilet? You don't have a clue do you?? More bluffing! And, any Australian who isn't a raving, ignorant, ranting loon like you, WOULD DISAGREE!

Are you hanging out with your fringe buddies on Telegram?

Hopefully, Shell, you and your mates can scrounge around for $2.65 and boost your movement's fighting fund to $10.
This is NOT about the money dumb-dumb. It's about the cause! The movement is not for close-minded ignorant gullible fanatics. People like you, who need the government as their security blanket to cope with life. People like you who have NOT yet learned, that it is the people who control the government. NOT the other way around! This movement's goal is to provide information for rational and open minded thinkers. Now you can continue to be a flea biting the ass of an elephant, but your masters now know that there is a limit to how far they can go, before we ignorant raving loons start pushing back!

I'm curious, the government tried and failed to make people vaccinate their pets(the AVA stopped them). So, if the government tried again, would you have your pets vaccinated with this vaccine??

Monica Smit is a mentally ill woman who is at the centre of every right wing movement that comes along. I refuse to ever criticise her because she really needs help, she is not well

I'm going to call you out here lols. You've spent the last 2 years criticizing Dan for lockdowns after he followed all the medical advice of the day, and now you're criticizing him for not following it?

There's just no pleasing you:headscratcher1

The right hate Dan, although he is right wing.

I will note the right wing hate movement looks for any social discontent and tries to ride it out. You can bet at every anti vax protest was someone walking around saying 'these lockdowns are oppression but wait til you hear about white genocide!!!'

I knew Shell would erupt. So predictable.

She fails to understand that she's been freeloading on the rest of us who have been vaccinated. It's the result of the general herd immunity of the vaccine has engendered that she and her gaggle of self-centred, hissing antivaxxers are protected.

So she can comfortably mount her soapbox ,rail and rant about the evils and uselessness of the vaccine as well as the low probability of getting infected because of this vaccine created herd immunity.

The evidence is clear and palpable that vaccination was a success. I've already gone on a merry-go-round with Shell. I've cited the evidence but she completely ignored it and thinks she knows better than virologists and immunologists and the data that proves her wrong.

"The Dunning-Kruger effect is strong in her. The Dunning–Kruger effect is a cognitive bias whereby people with low ability, expertise, or experience regarding a certain type of a task or area of knowledge tend to overestimate their ability or knowledge."

I got to wondering more about the psychology behind an antivaxxer like Shell.

I found a few interesting things beside the Dunning-Kruger effect.

What Psychologists Say About Anti-Vaxxers: They’re Raging Narcissists

'Anti-Vaxxers' May Think Differently Than Other People

The Psychology Behind the Anti-vaxxer
Is it a lack of emotional intelligence?

Psychology of an Anti-Vaxxer

Hmmm, Shell seems to tick the boxes. 🤣

For toadies like you, it is no effort to be predictable. You keep saying dumb-ass things, and I keep correcting you. In fact, it is my pleasure! And, I will definitely continue NOT to disappoint you!

Next your deranged toady mind will be telling me, that it was because of the quick actions by the government, that has saved us all from certain death, from this global viral apocalypse! "Hail to our saviors who always knows best for us! For the government, it's always a win-win. If there is a slowdown in infections and deaths, it is because that their policies are working. If the infections and deaths continue, then it is because the people are NOT carrying out their policies. Therefore, more restrictions and more lockdowns! Win-win every time.

Tell me genius, why do people like you, need to keep calling PRO-CHOICE PEOPLE ANTIVAXXERS?? You are no different to those other insecure people calling PRO-CHOICE PEOPLE PRO-ABOTIONISTS! Even a moron could understand that there are some people that may distrust this TYPE(mRNA) of vaccine, for a variety of other reasons. But it is a blatant fallacy to conclude that they are against ALL types of vaccines. UNLESS YOU ARE AN INSECURE FANATIC! Therefore, calling anyone an antivaxxer is only meant to be a cowardly slur/insult, NOT a description.

Were any of the people in the first 14 months freeloading off those vaccinated for herd immunity? Of course not! How does your being vaccinated have any direct effect on me?? Are you a physical barrier that prevents the virus from infecting me? Madness! Remember, I'M NOT INFECTED AT ALL! SO HOW ARE YOU PROTECTING ME?? Sometimes you're so invested in your mania, that you can't see what is blatantly obvious to others. It is people like you, who are a danger to society!

I've explained what herd immunity is. Clearly, you still don't have a clue. It doesn't rely on whether or not people are vaccinated. It only relies on the number of people who are infected and recover within the population. The more people who become immune, the less people the virus can actually infect. It's NOT rocket science! Even if NO ONE WAS VACCINATED, HERD IMMUNITY WOULD STILL BE ACHIEVED!! Vaccines could speed up this process. But this is only coincidental, NOT INCIDENTAL!! Or, are you dumb enough to believe that this virus, left unchecked, would kill every man woman, and child on the planet??

The evidence is clear and palpable that vaccination was a success. I've already gone on a merry-go-round with Shell. I've cited the evidence but she completely ignored it and thinks she knows better than virologists and immunologists and the data that proves her wrong.
And yet multi-vaccinated people are still being infected, developing serious illnesses, transmitting the virus, and dying from this virus. Let's just ignore this clear, verifiable, and palpable fact, shall we?? You've cited nothing but insults, opinions, lies, and misrepresentations. And, you've avoided answering any questions that would clearly expose the total depth of your ignorance(remember the vet question?). You selective choose your references, and "cherry-pick" statements out of context. You make up your own straw man to imply/insinuate that I am wrong. But I expect this from mindless drones, desperately trying to rationalize whatever their masters tell them.

I found a few interesting things beside the Dunning-Kruger effect.

You must be running out of ideas to support your master's position. And, the selective cut, copy, and paste goes into overdrive!

So now, the hundreds of thousands of adult Australians who believe that people should have the basic right to decide what can be put into their own bodies, are just "Raging Narcissist", "Different from Other People", "Lack Emotional Intelligence", and are "Conspiracy Theorists". Wow! How desperate is this?

And, the people who believe that people should stick whatever the government tells them into their bodies, without question or resistance, are the sane ones? Before I put anything into my body, I will learn everything there is to know about it(is it necessary, and is it effective). But when I am told that I MUST take this shit or else, then I'm definitely giving it a miss!

But hey, here's something else for you, that the experts also agree on. Maybe this will be served at your next dinner? The experts agree that it has LOTS of fiber and LOTS of nutrients. Bon appétit!

Calm down, Shell, and go pat Shilo. Hope you found the $2.65.

Your crackpot ideas on vaccination have been busted, your psychology exposed, and your movement is in the toilet.

You're crap is yawn worthy at best. You've lost my interest.

Peddle it elsewhere, loon. :stoopid

pretty much all your posts on the topic
So, I'm suppose to look through everything I've said, find out for myself, what disinformation and lies I've stated. And, if I can't find anything, it only means that I just haven't looked hard enough. You made the accusation, now you prove it!

Gee, you don't have to lift a finger to back up anything you say. Same old sad intellectually lazy pseudo-sophist. It's just much easier for me to belief, that "It's true, because you say its true". You two do have a lot in common.

I'm very calm. It's like listening to someone trying to convince me that the earth is flat. Or, that man was created from dust.

This is NOT about the vaccine you moron. This is about our freedom of choice. My reasoning about THIS vaccine, have nothing to do with why you are willing will keep taking this vaccine indefinitely! It is still your choice. So don't make this about me! I simply don't understand why anyone would.

And, if you think that anything/everything I say is crap, THEN DON'T FUCKING LISTEN OR RESPOND!! So, it is better that you parrot your mindless government-approved rhetoric to the choir. Because, if you try to peddle your shit outside of the choir, be prepared to defend yourself. Coward!

There are three issues

1 - you are thicker than pig shit
2 - We've dealt with enough morons like you to start on the front foot
3 - you refuse to answer anything any one says, or address the complete and utter ridiculous nature of your claim
