2 Sides To Police Shootings

You may believe that I can't, but actually it's that I don't care to.

I see the history, & I've probably been up & down this issue, if 1x...without exaggeration...500x.

I know by experience, at the end of the day, I know he won't move me one bit off my beliefs, & I also know I won't move him one bit off his beliefs. To continue would only be an exercise in futility, therefore I won't waste his time, but more importantly, I'm not willing to waste my time. I'm not willing to invest my time on getting nothing more than accomplishing another history lesson, which when all the dust settles, ends with no net gains on either side....best case a Mexican Stand-off.....just heaps of wasted time..........well, thanks, but no thanks.

That's the honest truth.........

Good Night.............

Shelly....you have the RIGHT to your own personal opinions, as do I, & we both have the RIGHT to express them freely as we both will & do. Therefore, I choose to exercise my RIGHT to respectfully disagree......As you know, you're free to do the same if you wish.
DRX, I do respect your opinion, and your RIGHT to even have one. But neither my respect, or your rights will make your opinion(or mine) correct, right? You have the right to point out the flaws in my opinions, and I have the same right to point out the flaws in yours. I think that the purpose of any argument, is to arrive at the truth. That is, searching for the independent truth, that is supported by the weight of the evidence. And, NOT simply by a consensus of self-serving popular beliefs, right?

The consensus of belief by most Americans regarding their 2nd Amendments rights, are based on a self-serving faulty premise. Any person outside of the US can see the obvious flaw, in the intent and purpose of the 2nd Amendment right to keep and bear arms. That is, that the right to keep and bear arms was only meant to be CONDITIONAL!! This opinions is NOT based on any popular belief. It is based only on the the written words themselves.

I seriously doubt if our founding fathers, had envisioned a society where all the people were all armed. I suppose that if I also just ignored WHO has the right to bear arms("A well regulated militia"). and WHY("being necessary for the security of a free state"), I would also only see "the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.". Our right to keep and bear arms, while NOT a member of any well regulated militia, or while protecting the security of a free state, is because of an interpretive ruling by the Supreme Court. NOT implicit in the Constitution.

Why do you think our founding fathers included TWO dependent clauses in their wording of the 2nd Amendment? And, NOT simply write "The right of the people to keep and bear arms shall NOT be infringed."? So, unless you can explain away these dependant clauses(conditions), then I will always disagree with your interpretation of the 2nd Amendment. The real, and only reason people have the right to continue to keep and bear arms, is because there is no conceivable, or practical way for the government/state to take them away. It is just too late!!

It just doesn't seem to matter anymore, just how many people die needlessly(67% suicides, mass murders, and accidents) every year from guns. Guns have now become the cultural icon of the USA. We have become our own global caricature of a B- grade cowboy movie.

..

Accidents happen, & will continue to happen........

Children will still get into medications & cleaning goods........fall into pools......slip under the water in the tub unattended, while mum runs to attend her ringing phone, run after a ball into a busy street by the park, fall off the ladder trying to rescue the kitty in the tree, snapping her little neck......etc....etc.....etc.....etc.....etc.

Accidents happen every day, & will continue to happen every day........Think about that the next time you turn the ignition to drive to work............C'est la vie

Accidents happen every day, some hit the Media with a high-intensity of emotionalism, while others are rarely mentioned.........One FACT remains........they will continue to happen every day........Think about that the next time you almost fall in the shower............C'est la vie

falling in the shower is hardly the same as being shot by your toddler, or a cop.

but there is no talking to you because you are an idiot.

keep looking stupid by attempting to justify harm, loss and misery by comparing apples to oranges.

Firstly, the right to bear arms is a Constitutional Ruling by the Supreme Court, NOT a Constitutional Right written in the Constitution!

Secondly, none of the accidents you mentioned involve any items that are actually designed to kill another human being.

Thirdly, it is a false equivalence to compare NON-GUN RELATED ACCIDENTAL DEATHS, to GUN-RELATED ACCIDENTAL DEATHS. Unintentional/Accidental deaths by guns account for only 1-2% of all yearly gun-related deaths in America.

But what about the 63% of all gun-related deaths, that involve the gun-owners deliberately blowing their own brain out? Or, the gun-owners deliberately deciding to take their family and friends with them to the next afterlife? Just, ". C'est la vie"?

There is also absolutely no rational reason for any private citizen in the US to own a gun. Target shooting? Hunting? The only rational reason is outlined in the Constitution. Which specifically states, "..belonging to a well regulated militia(armed forces, national guard, national reserves, etc.).

There is absolutely no independent evidence to support that guns will make you any safer in your home, than people without guns. In fact, all case-control studies have repeatedly found that gun ownership is associated directly with an increased risk of gun-related homicide or suicide. Especially, occurring in the home. All studies show gun ownership is more a hazard, than by far a benefit.

Let's look at a statistical example.

There are 328 million people living in the United States. There are around 12,000 homicides by firearm in the United States each year. That is approximately 3.7 people murdered with guns for any motive per 100,000 people.

There are 126 million people living in Japan. There are 25,000 suicides in Japan each year. That is approximately 20 people who commit suicide per 100,000 in one year.

This means, statistically, that

If you are a family of five in Japan, then there it is a statistical certainty that your entire family will commit suicide, before a family of five living in the United States will ever become a victim of a gun death committed by someone else.

If you are a family of five living in the United States, who suffers one gun death on the last day of that year, then an entire family of five living in Japan, will have all killed themselves by December 4th.

There are about 22,000 suicides by gun in the United States each year. Statistically this means, that at least three of the five members of your family will have shot themselves. And, that the other two would also shot themselves, before ever being shot by someone else.

But if you are still this gun paranoid, here are just a few things you can do to decrease your chances of becoming a victim of gun violence.

Grow up! Stop overcompensating for insecurities. And, learn better interpersonal relationship skills.
Don’t join or otherwise interact with gangs.
Don’t commit felonies.
Don’t go to large metropolitan cities.
STOP WATCHING TELEVISION AND VIOLENT MOVIES!!!
If you are an unarmed Black, always have a White person with you, when being stopped by White police officers.

Your reading comprehension has failed you once again.........

Amendment II (1791)

A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.
➣ The United States Constitution, The People's Document, is not an instrument for the government to restrain The People, it is an instrument for The People to restrain the government........

Secondly, none of the accidents you mentioned involve any items that are actually designed to kill another human being.
Are the people/children any less dead in the 'accidents' I mentioned? No, they aren't.....

Their cause of death, or if murdered, the implement used, is totally immaterial.....

.....what about the 63% of all gun-related deaths, that involve the gun-owners deliberately blowing their own brain out? .......... Just, ". C'est la vie"?
Do you applaud a woman's Right to choose in murdering millions of innocents, but in the same breath do you decry the right of ±25,000 people, who get 100% satisfaction with the implement they freely used in the exercise of their choice, solely because they chose to use a firearm to end their lives?

BTW, these suicides got exactly what they paid for.......None are on record as being dissatisfied with their complete success after exercising their choice to take their own lives.

The rest of your post is not worth responding to......it's nothing more than drivel & statistics, which won't change any Law-Abiding American minds regarding their Constitutional Right to Keep & Bear Arms.....

When all is said & done........The Second Amendment of the United States Constitution affirms, defends, & protects an American Citizen's Right to Keep & Bear Arms to use in Self-Defense.....of himself/herself, their loved ones, friends, & fellow citizens.

If you, or anyone else for that matter, finds Our Rights as American Citizens offensive, you'll just have to suck it up, & get over it, or face the reality that our American Rights will remain offensive to you for the rest of your 'NATURAL' life.

Our American Rights will serve America, & America's posterity, as they have for over 200 years........well into the distant future.....

To our friends, the non-Americans reading this, & who live here in Australia.....Law-Abiding American Gun Owners, will sigh for you......& then wish you all the very best, as you travel through your lives.....lacking the Freedom of Choice in defending your own lives, because your government is probably too afraid to affirm that you have a Natural Right to Self-Defense........

we heard you the first time coward
And you will continue to hear& read the FACTS & TRUTHS that I post as long as it's obvious that there are still some that refuse to understand, & continue to profess falsehoods/misstatements out of their own blatant ignorance ....... unfortunately, those of you that do understand them may, with my apology, have to experience them until they are understood.

If you are that offended by my honest posts, please don't read them....I won't mind, & feel no offense....

Why don't you just post photgraphs of the back of public toilet doors that you acquire your information from instead of paraphrasing or plagiarizing the contents as your "facts & truths".

Is that where you Australians get all their valued information & history from......off of the back of Public toilet doors?

No wonder most of you fellas know jack squat about yer own Aussie History, much less about our American History.......

American's are taught about American History through adulthood, in every public & private school in America....from about 4th grade on through the Universities & College levels & beyond........

As Americans we are damn proud of our grand & illustrious Nations history.

I wonder if you are as proud of your valued history as we are?

You do have a valued history in your parts, don't you? If you do, are you proud of your Nations history

BTW.....We Americans use History Text Books......so you aught to get out of the toilet you seem to live in, wash your hands with soap & hot water.......God knows what you have smeared all over them, & try a text book about important Aussie history.....if any exist that is....I'm sure your lot just don't exist in a vacuum of mediocrity, with nothing valuable worthy to recall.....
