Babies Win: Supreme Court Strikes Down Roe

Source: The Patriot Post
Sixty-two million. That’s how many children have been killed since the Supreme Court discovered a “right” to abortion in 1973. In what might be the biggest ruling in decades, the Court ruled 6-3 today to overturn Roe v. Wade, the horrendous decision responsible for this half-century atrocity.

“The Constitution does not confer a right to abortion; Roe and [Planned Parenthood v.] Casey are overruled; and the authority to regulate abortion is returned to the people and their elected representatives,” wrote Justice Samuel Alito in the majority opinion.

If ever there was a moment for us to literally yell “Amen!” through our tears of joy, this is that moment.

Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization was the case at hand, dealing with Mississippi’s Gestational Age Act that bans most abortions after 15 weeks of pregnancy. It’s the case we called the most important abortion case in a generation, and it’s the monumental decision that was leaked in May.

Many Americans no doubt worried that the leak would have its intended effect: intimidating one or more justices to change their opinion. That did not happen — unless, ironically, Chief Justice John Roberts was so angered by the unprecedented and damaging leak that he actually joined the majority, albeit only with a concurring opinion to uphold the Mississippi law, not to overturn Roe.

“The Constitution makes no reference to abortion, and no such right is implicitly protected by any constitutional provision,” wrote Alito. “Roe was egregiously wrong from the start. Its reasoning was exceptionally weak, and the decision has had damaging consequences. And far from bringing about a national settlement of the abortion issue, Roe and Casey have enflamed debate and deepened division.”

“We end this opinion where we began,” Alito also wrote. “Abortion presents a profound moral question. The Constitution does not prohibit the citizens of each State from regulating or prohibiting abortion. Roe and Casey arrogated that authority. We now overrule those decisions and return that authority to the people and their elected representatives.” That is exactly where such authority belongs.

And despite their insistence that abortion is so popular, that is exactly where leftists do not want this authority to reside. That’s why radicals protested outside the Court and even illegally at the justices’ homes. That’s why a lunatic tried to assassinate Justice Brett Kavanaugh. It’s why abortion zealots have attacked churches and pro-life pregnancy centers across the country.

They hate preborn life that much. And they’re not done, evidently planning what the Department of Homeland Security is calling a “Night of Rage” in vengeance and retribution for this ruling. The riots over George Floyd’s death may serve as the template.

As commentator Matt Walsh aptly noted, “It’s a good thing the Supreme Court affirmed our right to conceal carry right before this ‘night of rage’ you guys are planning.”

Make no mistake: The six justices in the majority are now in very real danger.

“This is the most coordinated & aggressive domestic terrorism in our nation today,” argued Live Action founder Lila Rose. “All because extremists are angry that they may not get to kill children in the womb, on demand, without limit.”

Fortunately, the Biden administration finally had something right to say. “Violence and destruction of property have no place in our country under any circumstance,” said White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre Wednesday. “And the president denounces this action.” Unfortunately, the Justice Department has been less than interested in prosecuting left-wing violence, preferring to dedicate time and resources to the nation’s 17 white supremacists and only lately arousing itself to investigate threats and violence against pro-lifers.

And we wouldn’t be surprised if, by the time the day is out, Joe Biden is once again talking about packing the Court.

On a much happier note, this ruling is the fruit of decades of unwavering work on the part of faithful women and men on behalf of the most defenseless among us, preborn babies. Their love and dedication to saving one life at a time and loving women in crisis will become even more important in the days and years ahead. Prayers and support will be needed.

We think especially of our friends at Choices Pregnancy Resource Center in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Patricia Lindley, its longtime former director, has written on these pages of her love for women and their children, both in the womb and out of it. “I am rejoicing with countless others who have been involved in pro-life efforts since the 1970s,” she told us this morning. “Abortion on demand brought only death and destruction to the American culture. The Dobbs decision reopens the opportunity for truth to prevail and for the ministry of pregnancy centers to be the beacon of hope that affirms life.”

The current director of Choices, Carol Ann Ferguson, said she’s still mindful of the mission to serve our community: “For thirty-seven years, Choices has been serving women and men facing pregnancy decisions. Regardless of this change in law, people in our community will continue to face unexpected pregnancies and we will always be here to provide compassionate care through our free medical and family services.”

Other leaders weighed in, as well. “The United States Supreme Court just announced one of the most significant rulings in my lifetime,” said Reverend Franklin Graham. “My prayer is that every state will enact protections for children in the womb, and that our nation will value life and recognize the rights of our most vulnerable.”

Finally, for decades, we have solemnly marked Sanctity of Life Day each January 22, the anniversary of Roe.

Henceforth, June 24 will be a day worth celebrating!!!
Today, we bow to the power of THE LORD! No longer will we be forced to watch as the most helpless yet to be born innocent are ripped, & torn to shreds with the stamp of approval & protection of the United States Government!

And it is the poorer women, women of color, who will be effected the most. Wealthy white women will fly interstate/overseas and have a safe abortion.

This decision will blight lives and add to the adoption/foster burden.

Wow, even that witch Susan Ley thinks it is a backward step:

Sussan Ley: Roe v Wade overturning ‘a backward step for women’

Deputy Liberal leader Sussan Ley says the US supreme court’s decision to overturn a constitutional right to abortion is a “backward step for women in the US”.

On Saturday, the weekly brew rats video get together, I talked to one Rat (Repug, east coast) and said that it affected only poor women and that the US had bigger problems to deal with. I think that viewpoint was accepted. Later, in general discussion this fundamentalist guy went on and on about children no longer being murdered. My interjections that children didn’t get aborted etc etc just got lost in the religious rant and I exited the chat forthwith.

I like discussion, not bigoted rants!

15 years time this guy likely be ranting about all the hispanic/black crime etc. This guy sleeps with a loaded automatic under his pillow!

Funny about those who whinge the most about muslims not giving women any rights and all the other crap they get into a lather about are also the same one pushing to copy the extremists. This is a disgraceful decision by the US supreme court.

If it were about babies, women would be able to access free antenatal care. The cost of birthing and post-natal care would be free.

And while i'm at it, men would be up for child support from when they could first detect a heartbeat.

Still spinning the same narratives to justify the same lies! No one is forcing anyone to watch helplessly, while an undifferentiated embryonic growth is being removed from its host. And yes, with the stamp of approval by the embryo's host(NOT the government). And, the power of the Lord is impotent, powerless, irrelevant, and imaginary.

How does the "power of the Lord" reconcile with the killing of 69B chickens, 1.5B pigs, 656M turkeys, 574M sheep, 479M goats, and the 302M cattle killed each year to keep the carnivores happy? How does your Lord reconcile with the stomach-turning barbarism of hunting and killing millions of helpless animals for sport(trophies)? Does your Lord think that the lives of His non-human creations, is less important than the lives of His unborn human creations? And, finally, how do you biblically reconcile with the killing of any human life, that 12 people and a judge have decided must be forfeited? Are these special humans empowered by God?

The job of the SC Justices is to INTERPRET the Constitution, as it would APPLY in an ever- changing US society. NOT to simply state that,

"The Constitution makes no reference to abortion, and no such right is implicitly protected by any constitutional provision, including the one on which the defenders of Roe and Casey now chiefly rely — the Due Process Clause of the Fourteenth Amendment,” Alito wrote.".

We pay these justices over $250K/yr to tell us, that because the word "abortion" is not actually written in a 243yo document, that this means that women have no constitutional right to an abortion? And, therefore their privacy is not protected under the "due process" clause of the 14th Amendment? And, because of this, it is now the states that must regulate abortion? Not the government? This is a just a cop-out by the 6 conservative(republican appointed) justices. Which allows them to use semantics, as their excuse to band together to please their masters. I agree with the 3 dissenting liberal justices.

"The majority has overruled Roe and Casey for one and only one reason: because it has always despised them, and now it has the votes to discard them. The majority thereby substitutes a rule by judges for the rule of law.".

The Supreme Court is now completely partisan(6 Conservatives- 3 Liberals). It is no longer a separate but equal branch of the government. I have no idea how conception, pregnancy, abortion, or labor, could be seen as anything else but a personal female privacy issue. Thus, for almost 50 years, has been protected by the 14th Amendment. Your level of freedom will now depend entirely on what state you are born in. I predict a mass exodus of people to the states that value the individual rights, choices, and the freedoms of the already-born, over the unborn.

Not exactly a very Christian thing to say!! But for those who pattern their lives on the religiosity of a 3,400yo foreign middle-eastern book, that is man-compiled(from earlier writings), man-created, man-written(in Hebrew), man-edited, man-interpreted, and man-contracted, I would expect this level of hypocrisy, ignorance, elitism, and selfishness. This is a book dripping in blood(including the unborn), murder and vengeance! But THERE IS NOTHING IN THE BIBLE THAT EVEN MENTIONS ABORTIONS!! https://time.com/3582434/6-abortion-myths/ The Bible is a book written to entertain children, control the ignorant, and to give old myth-believers a false sense of self-importance, hope, and purpose. And, since you don't speak Hebrew, Aramaic, or Greek, you are just another blind follower aboard the religious bandwagon to simpleton.

The Federal government was always meant to keep the playing field level for all citizens. So that every LIVING citizen would have the same rights(life, liberty, happiness) as everyone else. But you fanatics have opened pandoras box, and taking us back to the ugly days of federalism. The days where the States decided the level of freedoms that people should have in their state. And, now millions of women and children will suffer because of this decision. Fortunately there are still "sanctuary" states to protect the privacy and basic rights of women, from one dimensional thinkers and fanatics. Hopefully people like you wouldn't start a holy war, forcing rational people to think like you. GOD clearly does not bless America. GOD clearly hates America!

I am so glad that I live in Australia. A country where reason and reality is not clouded by emotion and fantasy(most of the time).
