The Guardian in Australia

Independence matters. It means that we can pursue a story without fear of where it might take us. We can expose corruption or foul play wherever we find it. No shareholders, advertisers or billionaire owners can tell us to censor, edit or drop a story. Our unique ownership structure ensures this. The Scott Trust, set up in 1936, is our sole shareholder, safeguarding our financial and editorial independence, and liberal values, in perpetuity. All profits of the organisation are re-invested in journalism and the constitution of The Scott Trust Limited contains provisions to ensure that no shareholder can benefit financially.

I have found them to be a good source of info, Leaning a bit toward AGM and the left. About the same as the ABC.
I think they are doing a pretty good job and seam to be one of the only independent newspapers out there.... :purple

for a liberal party supporter, anything left of Attila the Hun is 'left leaning' :c :c

I actually looked because Pinky went off when I used them as a source and wanted to see what was wrong with them... They sound like one of the good ones... :purple

Wikipedia is good just for a outline.. They list all their sources if you really want to get into a subject... I think of them like a school teacher instead of a professor….
I just put a wiki link to The guardian there so you could get a outline of who they are and not just a blurb from the paper itself..:) :purple

My former training in legal research means Wikipedia is just a joke source of broad facts, and fiction.
Bit like the Guinness Book of Records except less factual.

That's why I never look at it I guess, and I do very little newspaper reading, maybe 2 papers a week, and that is pathetic, cause I'm talking the Courier Mail. :roll.. Nevertheless I read it.. What a world, :roll

I only buy that because I have an interest in horses.. in this instance race horses. I wonder if the Racing will continue. Other sport is cancelled for obvious reasons, but horse -racing,, easy enough to maintain physical distancing.. a much more appropriate term.

I read a lot.... mostly fiction of the crime-noir genre. But not always.

And as a night owl, I watch News across all channels in the early hours. I also avail myself of community information..local free papers etc.

I do not access News online..as a rule. It goes against my negative attitude of mistrusting IT and News in particular.

I have opinions, just like you, but very few certainties.

Victoria has suspended horse-racing due to a positive Covid-19 test,
Wonder if Sydney will follow. HUGE Money at stake , both in Vic and NSW.

Interesting times.
