Lockdown boredom and reactions to it

I have reacted by turning to cooking and preserving and buying gear:L

1. Cuisinart slowcooker—I am impressed with it!

2. Stainless steel flame and oven proof casserole, start on the cooktop, put into the oven.

3. Two stainless steel jam funnels (fit all my jars, 500ml to 150ml)

4. SS funnel, fill narrow spice jars etc.

5. A lid lifter longer than my present one (lid lifter, a length of plastic with a magnet at one end, put that end into the waterbath, magnet grabs a lid, pull it out of the water—fingers don’t get scalded. I have a jar lifter that is fine, lid lifter a bit short, did the job but prefer one that keeps my fingers further from the boiling water

6. A second (other one is in Tassie, didn’t think I would do preserving again) preserving rack, keeps jars off the bottom of the pan doing duty ad a waterbath and helps keep them separate, not touching other jars. Not a waste—if using smaller jars I can have two racks, 14 jars, being waterbathed at the same time.

7. Will buy a second cheap 17L pan. Petty cash at under $20 and thin steel so how long before the bottom burns out?
