What a waste of time ... ‘This is the first time it was to my face’: Gisele Fetterman talks about racist attack at Aldi

What a waste of time for the police and the pubic. Gisele Barreto Fetterman claims she was verbally assaulted and insulted by several utterings of racial slurs by a woman in an Aldi store and again outside the Aldi store.

She has wasted the public's time by making this a pubic issue as she is not prepared to submit a police complaint.

The whole issue is pointless as the perpetrator has escaped justice without even being required to apologize.

It also creates an impression that Gisele Barreto Fetterman has something to hide that would be exposed to revelation in court if the matter proceeded to a trial.

It is also possible that the perpetrator had good cause to insult Gisele Barreto Fetterman and that she was known to Gisele Barreto Fetterman who did not reveal that information to the public.

This is a pointless waste of everybody's time by Gisele Barreto Fetterman.

‘This is the first time it was to my face’: Gisele Fetterman talks about racist attack at Aldi
The supermarket chain says the woman who used the slur is banned from its stores.

Pennsylvania Second Lady Gisele Barreto Fetterman is not a stranger to obnoxious behavior. As wife to the state’s lieutenant governor, Fetterman is used to politics and being in the public eye. But the verbal attack she was subjected to over the weekend sparked a more visceral reaction than what she’d experienced in the past.

“This is the first time it was in public and to my face,” Fetterman told Billy Penn. “I was just really frozen, I probably started crying.”

The incident began in the checkout line at an Aldi in the Pittsburgh suburbs, when a shopper spotted her and began berating her with racial slurs. “Ugh, here’s that n****r that Fetterman married,” she recalled the older woman saying, before going on to accuse her of being a “thief” and saying she “did not belong here.”

Fetterman, a native of Brazil, came to the U.S. as an undocumented immigrant while her family was fleeing violent circumstances in her home country. She has been an American citizen for over a decade.

“I get a lot of hate mail online and in the comment section, a lot of ‘Go back to your country’ and those kinds of things,” Fetterman said. “I’ve gotten used to that over the years, and I know no one should get used to that.”

Representatives from Aldi also expressed dismay over the incident — and said the person who made the attack would be banned from its stores.

“We were saddened to hear about the incident that occurred with Pennsylvania’s Second Lady,” a spokesperson said via email, adding that the company was reaching out to Fetterman to reiterate its stance. “We are appalled by the behavior of the offending customer and she is no longer welcome to shop at Aldi. ...

She must know the US Constitution, because making a police report would get her nowhere.

The US Supreme Court has held on many occasions, recently they ruled unanimously, that there are no Hate Speech Exceptions to the First Amendment in the US Constitution, & even though some see the Free Speech used in this case as repulsive & insensitive, the speech used is protected by the First Amendment to the United States Constitution. Therefore, there would be no valid reason to sustain a complaint if made.

In the USA, a person can say whatever they like, no matter how offensive. Restrictions on speech are limited to raising false alarms, perjury, making false statements injurious to a person’s reputation, and inciting riots. To be offensive is considered protected speech.

Wonder woman
depends on the definition of offensive.

I remember that WHITE woman, who rang the Police to report a BLACK man as threatening her and her dog in a PARK. (remember, he asked her to put it on a lead..? )

I consider that behaviour by that woman, not only offensive in it's blatant racism, BUT ALSO

OFFENSIVE as in ATTACK.

I do hope she was charged with assault. But I seriously doubt it. Any body know? per chance.

You are about 500% wrong this time which means you are improving. If it wasn't a fluke.

The police were ready to act if a complaint had been submitted.

Can somebody in the USA be arrested for calling someone a racial slur?

Almost never, although modern progressive types may be surprised to learn that attempts to ban such “hate speech” go back to at least the 1940’s

In 1969 in Brandenburg v. Ohio the SCOTUS ruled that “The constitutional guarantees of free speech and free press do not permit a state to forbid or proscribe advocacy of the use of force or of law violation except where such advocacy is directed to incite imminent lawless action and is likely to incite or produce such action” (Wikipedia).

Thats a very high bar. I realize that the concept that speech is not violence and that my liberty to express myself is more important than your wounded self-esteem may be annoying to some people, but there you have it.

Please remember that the United States was designed to be a free country, not a nice country. You may have confused us with Canada.
Regardless, you can be arrested for just about anything, at any time, regardless of where you live......even for expressing your own verbal opinions in the United States..

Your 'FREE SPEECH' becomes illegal only when you attempt to physically assault the person you are shouting your hateful/hurtful slurs at.

Barring that.......Yes, shouting racial slurs...calling someone a Nigger, etc..etc...etc is a Constitutionally protected 'Free Speech', & according to the US Supreme Court, it is perfectly legal, but the police can still arrest you, & detain you for a short spell......in the end.....might even be for your own protection.

Your only recourse would be to take them to court for false arrest, & wrongful imprisonment, but even thorough you would eventually prevail, & even though there would be no court costs incurred by you....(all costs...including lost wages...would usually, unlike here in Australia, be absorbed & reimbursed by the government....the People), it could be very time consuming if you legally contest your wrongful arrest & imprisonment.

In the end it's still Constitutionally 'FREE SPEECH', but at what cost.......your precious time....

your constitution sounds fucking shit

how's that for free speech?
In America you could get yer ass beaten within an inch of yer life for saying that..........some....quite a few.....Americans don't take demeaning the US Constitution lightly......thousands of brave Americans died defending their sacred document.....they swear an oath to do just that when they enlist into the armed services, & many other positions within, & outside of the government, including the police.

I, [name], do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter. So help me God.[1]
Personally, even though I would defend your right to express your opinions, I find what you said personally repulsive, & face to face we might just get into it strong & hard, but as with all things, as a man, I have the right of free will, to do, or not not to do something, & I exercise it often.....sometimes with strong personal restraint.....
