They used to, back in my day. Dunno if that is still the case. Fencing or lack thereof is also an issue. But....20 or so years ago, you plough into a horse or cow on a road and the bloody animal owner sues you!

For once in either direction I did not come across one of these self appointed road police. You know, those charmers that drive 10-15Kph under the speed limit, only to increase their speed to the limit when an overtaking lane appears. Nice little game except when you have hundreds of Kms still to travel.

Did get stuck behind one car going slow, I beeped it and flashed the headlights whenever there was no oncoming traffic. Got it to speed up a bit and when I went past I saw it was being driven by a young female singing along with the car radio. Concentrate on your driving, idiot! This was on the Adelaide–Melbourne highway not some side street!

Trying to get a quote from a surveyor. Need boundary pegs and would like to know the bearing of the long sides of the block and the drop from front to back. Simple enough task. Don’t really expect replies yet but can send out some RFQs.

Try it on google earth, its certainly going to be accurate enough for bearing and distance for this purpose

i measured the roof of my house which is 14.4m long and it comes up with 14.3m so its pretty accurate

I know the length of the boundaries, it is their precise position as anchored by survey pegs at each corner I need.

How would I measure the slope? Will look later this week, have oliebollen to make.

Google Earth—surveyor can give more accurate figure but Google Earth is good enough foir initial planning. I did Google it—can be done with Earth Pro, but too hoit and have other things to do right now.

Are you going to terrace the land a bit or is it not that much a slope?

If you are going to irrigate now is probably the time to work out where you will put a ring main around the block and where to put taps etc

No need to irrigate! over 600mm rain spread fairly evenly thorugh the year.

Do want to terrace it a bit, flat space for house, steep short slope, flat space for greenhouse & garden shed, gentle slope where fruit trees go, ensure frost runs downhill and away from the trees. By removing a lot of the slope reduce fire danger—short slopes can be planted with succulents.

When I started with my farm it was just guinea grass 6ft tall out the front and beautiful big tree's around a dam down the back and that was it....after a lot of work over about 10 years its finally starting to come together, I didnt have bugger all money to spend when I first started out so everything took forever trying to scrounge stuff up
