Self Driving Cars...

Elon Musk announced that Tesla’s Full Self-Driving beta test will indeed be rolled out tonight. The Full Self-Driving beta will feature improvements from Tesla’s Autopilot rewrite. Musk has described the upcoming FSD beta as “profound,” which has only fueled excitement for its release.

While Musk confirmed the rollout of FSD’s limited beta, he did set some realistic expectations to the electric car community. The CEO stated that this limited beta will be rolled out in an “extremely slow and cautious” manner, likely to maximize safety. This bodes well for Tesla’s public Full Self-Driving rollout, as it shows that the company is taking a very conservative approach with regards to the release of its autonomous driving features.

Based on Elon Musk’s descriptions of Tesla’s limited FSD beta, the company may have achieved a feature complete iteration of FSD after the Autopilot rewrite.

This is pretty exciting, It's not complete but all the parts are done now... Just have to wait for the fine tune....
I'd be happy to never have to drive again....

When I was testing out the toy HUD the thought did cross my mind that the car would know its exact speed and position from GPS, a step to full selfdriving.

The selfdriving car has been a staple of SciFi for a while.

Pedestrians have to be lifted out of the plane (geometric plane, not aeroplane!) of full self driving traffic—with computer control, laser and radar sensing self drive traffic can travel at much faster than mandated speed, make turns with maybe 20cm gaps, e.g. a car turning right against oncoming traffic can make that turn if the smallest gap is 20cm.

that's only if the cars are connected and communicate with each other, be a lot of fighting who's system to use......that will be the next step....

Autonomous cars only need to be better than the worse drivers to start saving lives. I third of all accidents in Australia are from tailgaters, just having cars navigating that would stop 400 deaths
and countless damage and injury each year..

The selfdriving car has been a staple of SciFi for a while.
and now it's happening.....

Now that Tesla FSD beta is out in limited release, FSD price (new or upgrade) will go up by ~$2k on Monday

it will cost more than the car soon......
and be worth it.....

Very difficult to get video shot… I’ll get a better video soon… it turned on the signal, waited for the car and pedestrians… at night! Incredible work

Tesla’s Neural Network operates in the same fashion. With every mile driven, the software gets more complex and accurate with its maneuvers. The constantly-learning Neural Net has received information from over 3 billion miles of Autopilot-assisted driving, according to Tesla’s Head of Artificial Intelligence,

What is interesting is that every car Tesla has made is compatible with this FSD suite..(except the few thousand first cars made), the hardware has been ready for years.. over a Million cars with just a software upgrade will be able to Full Self drive by the end of the year....

I can read and post etc here on my Mac laptop, others on Windoze boxes can read and post here so can those on Linux or Be or whatever.

Standards (like http and html, pdf, .jpg etc) will be written so cars can inform others of their speed, course etc. Just like all cars now have indicators and horns.

and as I said each company will be fighting to have their system as the standard, just like any new tech.....Although unless Tesla starts to get any competition in this sector they will be the standard......

Big Brother wants to make you redundant!
