it's not your criticism of the country thats the problem .. it's your defense of someone deliberately and knowingly breaking the law.
No, it's the law itself that I don't like. But I've been raised in a country where the right to peacefully assemble is a constitutional right. Your freedoms are more a matter of governmental largesse and can be rescinded at will. UK and France are like that as well.

I remember when France banned muslim women from wearing head scarfs (or was it face coverings?) Anyways, I remember thinking wow, just wow.

Personally, I don't like the practice. But it's not the government's role to dictate what you can wear or whether you can practice a religious or cultural custom. But France, UK, and Australia are not the U.S. You guys are OK with it because you're used to it. It's not OK to an American.

Yes, but Trump takes that right away from you.

When he wants a photo op with a bible, he violently attacks peaceful protesters.

What a cowardly piece of shit he is.

@johnsmith @greggerypeccary While it's true that the U.S. Constitution guarantees the right to peacefully assemble, it does not guarantee that you may do so anywhere, any time, for any length of time. "Assembling" is one thing. "Camping" is another.

Those public areas around the White House, Capitol Buildings, Washington Monument, Lincoln Memorial, Viet Nam Memorial and others, belong to all of us to visit and take in. They are not for campers.

Do you have any analogous areas in Australia?

Look at countries with the best human rights, health, justice and equality....Sadly USA are very low on the list of western countries.. All the while convincing it's citizens they are so well off.. Perplexing really....
If I was in any trouble at all, health wise, Money wise or law wise I wouldn't want to be in the USA....

Dupped into believing if you hold a gun your rights are infallible is really sad.....

The data reveals that a combined 64% of Americans believe that their right to not have to be inconvenienced by wearing a mask or scarf over their face is more important than reducing the probability of getting sick or infecting others.

see 64% of mericans are more worried about rights than getting sick or more importantly getting sick and passing it on to vulnerable friends and family...
I don't get it, they are still allowed to carry around a semi automatic while wearing a mask though.....
trump ....but Hillary
human life... but rights

The fact that the American Constitution has Amendments means it is in no way perfect and subjected to societal changes. Simply defending rights because it is the on the "Constitution" solely, is sign of poor ethical judgement.

What if you and the vast majority of Australians supported a law against homosexuality? Arrest people for Facebook posts supporting homosexuality? Wouldn't that be promoting crimes on Facebook?

I like our freedom of speech.
Fair point. Do you think BLM supporters are exercising their freedom of speech.?

There are lots of laws I don't agree with.

However, if i decided to encourage people on Facebook to break those laws, I would fully expect to be apprehended by the police.

If you don't like a particular law, do something legal to fight it.

Lobby your local politician.

Create a petition.

Run for office yourself.

But don't break the law.
Just wondering when there was a blanket decision on this ? Covid-19 represents special circumstances.. IMHO.
HOWEVER...
when did a person become a lawbreaker, by talking about, advocating for , promoting or suggesting something (whatever) ?
Isn't this all about free speech. ?
If someone acted, through their own choice, how can the person who may have discussed or promoted something, be held criminal for the acts of another.?

Covid-19 has certainly turned us all on our heads, but rationally, aren't you a bit OTT GP.? You sound just like JS.

I disagree with some laws... I admit it. I promote illegal substance... I admit it... am I responsible if someone else acts..? I don't believe so.

No, by putting our rights into the Constitution, we make it impossible for a narrow, simple majority to take them away.

The China virus pandemic has shown that if we’re scared of something, how quickly individual rights are taken away when there is nothing to stop the government from doing it. It shows also how a cowed and frightened populace will sit by and not object.

Yes, of course. The peaceful demonstrators are exercising their freedom of speech.
a tactful reply.

so you disagree with Trump. I know you do , but I wonder how you think all this is going to end.?

Speaking of ?? What populace would that be? Not yours, 'cos the people are protesting LOUD AND CLEAR.

So US here..? I tend to agree because this Liberal Morrison government has DELIGHTED in spreading BAD NEWS.. which if you ask me isn't THAT BAD. All about the money and the economy, and nothing about their own role in this fiasco. All the fault of others..................

They talk about millions here, billions there, and they are so full of shit I can't bear to listen to our PM. OR our Treasurer. Simply blatant biased propaganda.

I haven't heard
an honest word
