Ok I'm back from our Go Karting adventures. Due to age, they were only allowed on slower karts and because of my age, I wasn't allowed on them so both boys ended up going solo. Older son did alright. A bit hesitant at first but once he did a few laps he relaxed a little and was able to do some overtaking. Younger son thought he was driving Miss Daisy. Slow and steady was his motto. Both boys loved the experience. First time for both of them and they're already asking to go back. When we left the oldest son was still glowing from having driven the Go Karts ... according to him (and I'm quoting him here) 'It was the best Birthday ever'.

The venue we went to also had laser tag and indoor rock climbing which they also did. I played laser tag with them but sat out the other stuff. Gave them an opportunity to join forces and gang up against me. Of course they kicked my butt.

Venue also had a 'hanging roller coaster' where you glide along on an over head track, suspended in a harness that you sit in, as well as an indoor putt putt course but we didn't try those this time.

On the way there my oldest was trying to guess what where we were taking him. After my telling him to stop asking was ignored several times, he somehow came to the conclusion that he was going parachuting ... poor kid spent most of the drive to the karting centre in tears crying that he didn't want to jump out of a plane. :smirk

oops! I must admit I cannot see the point of jumping out of a perfectly good airplane!

Saturday, walking from my car to a Farmers Market the hip where the titanium hip now is suddenly hurt like hell! I shuffled to a nearby fence and held onto that for a couple of minutes. Been sore since then. Think a visit to the quack might be in order. All I need, work to be done on the hip meaning I can’t work on my block Dec–Jan :groan
Had an XRay taken late last week. GP rang a while ago—nothing wrong with the hip. Must have pinched a nerve or tendon or something.

Easy to do.. especially if we are getting skinnier but remain active. I am seriously starting to realize I am not a kid anymore.

I've taken up eating mini drumsticks.. !!! I haven't eaten ice cream in more decades than I care to number.

But as I get older I am feeling more need for sweets.. and NO I am not diabetic, or even pre-diabetic. My tests show that. Its just I'm trying to put on weight,
and get some energy from it.
I have always had a 'sour' preference in food, as an adult. when I could eat what I chose.
Perhaps I'll get sick of them soon. Haven't had one tonight yet.

Well, have a bloody icecream already! Heaven in a cone or on a stick!

I have been a sweet tooth for a long time.

Wish I could find a source of pasteurised eggs, would make up some batches of gelato for summer! Without pasteurised eggs the gelato is said to be good for only 2 weeks.

Tried my new stainless steel hotplate on my BBQ tonight. Potatoes tasted funny, they were the first thing cooked on the new plate so they copped all the taste left over from manufacturing (we threw the potatoes out), the meat tasted great.

I had the 'grill' type BBQ but I have always preferred the flat plates to the grill. I asked for a quote from a stainless steel place a few months ago but i made the mistake of telling them what it was for. He told me I needed 2mm plate but to stop warping due to heating and cooling, I needed edges welded on it. Quote came to nearly $480. :B Screw that, I didn't pay that much for the whole BBQ. I can buy a new BBQ with hotplate included for that price.

So this time I went to another SS manufacturer but I didn't tell him what I wanted it for. I only asked for 5mm SS plate cut to the required size. Got the plate for $200 ... and because it's 5mm, it doesn't need edges welded on to stop warping. Worked a treat.

Hmm ... reminds of the time when my Slow Combustion Wood Fireplace, with glass door and flat top to cook on ... dropped it's upper steel plate onto the fire. I had put so much heat through it that the steel warped and fell off it's plugs.
It can get COLD here. Below zero, or hovering around, and DRY, so need a good fire.
Anyway, No way would it fit anymore.
So, day or so ? I took the warped rectangular steel plate down to a small local steelworkers. Wandered in and talked to the fella (owner) and explained it fell down inside my fireplace, and can you make me another one.?

Probably 3mm thick I think, maybe more. I don't know , with little lips each end. He looked at it, said yeah no worries, what's your number. So I left it with him.
He rang the next day to say come get it.. ?$ ahh umm $20 .

No worries.

Feel shithouse. Cold is settled into my chest, very hard to breathe sometimes.

Have you a drive through Covid station near you, Monk?

Sorry to hear you're feeling poorly. Steam and eucalyptus is the best stuff for a tight chest.

Speaking of rain, wait til you see this! I watched this NASCAR Xfinity Series race today from Charlotte, North Carolina. This was a blast to watch. Freakin crazy!

Well, could get tested again. Went for a walk, just around the block, was OK, hip acting up a bit. Walk around two blocks tomorrow. Still need to get a bit fitter for Tassie!
