Covid-19 Revisit

New developments

NSW community infections have increased significantly . NO WAY the border between QLD/NSW should be relaxed.

There is a possibility that a woman who flew from Townsville to Brisbane, in QLD, to Melbourne to visit family, and tested positive in Vic has created further potential infection in Qld.

Have to wait and see I guess.

Well a day is a long time in 2020.

Reports across Europe about a huge increase in Positive tests , far beyond the first wave are very concerning.

And that is just Europe.

I don't think WE here in OZ can continue to bask in the glory.. because this is not something that macros like us can beat by sheer numbers, .. and we are unlikely to get an effective treatment, let alone vaccine in the near future.

WE may well be looking at ongoing increasing figures... seems there is a threshold .. what I call , when playing moronic games, ( not GAMES just games) the critical mass. When I see that I win.

But it works in reverse, when we talk about THIS pandemic.

We reach critical mass... we ALL LOSE.

I know the pandemic is a serious threat. But I think there is good news around the corner.

Forget the politics. Forget who Trump is. Just think of him as a medical example. Just think of him as a 74 year old Covid patient. He received a cocktail of drugs that worked. What if that same cocktail was widely available everywhere? Could it be that that will soon be widely available? And I think a vaccine is coming soon before too long. I would like to think that we will be far better off this time next year. Perhaps by then millions and millions of people will have been vaccinated, and if you still get the virus, that effective treatments will be widely available.

Maybe the glass is half empty, but that means it is half full too.

Worldwide now 1 in 200 have gotten C-19 and of those people 1 in 40 have died.....
With new infections still on the rise , almost 400,000 new cases yesterday, it's easy to forget how lucky and well managed Australia has been in containing this pandemic...

I am sad to see that the increase in cases across most of the world continues to escalate.

HERE..? we have a Federal government trying to bully the States into opening borders, with the support of the NSW State government.

So... a plane load of people from New Zealand were welcomed into Sydney.

NOW call me a FUCKWIT, but I would have been watching to make sure all was good. Yeah?

But apparently NSW and BORDER FORCES , or whatever they call themselves, couldn't be fucked.
Yawn.

17 of these fine people THEN got on a plane to Victoria.
Whereabouts unknown at this time.

I MEAN SERIOUSLY.? OH I know the Feds will blame the state govt, and the State GOVT will blame the FEDS.!!

How utterly fucked is that eh.?

you must be happy Mr Monk
I don’t dare to hope too much right now, Don. But looking OK. Of course, have to get back into SA from Vic and don’t know yet if SA boeder is being opened to Vic—as it stands I would have to fly to/from Tas just to get back into SA.

I will start letting myself get optimistic late Nov.

Millions of Europeans faced tough new coronavirus restrictions on Saturday as governments stepped up efforts to slow the surge in infections, after the World Health Organization reported a “very concerning” 44% rise in European cases over one week.

From Saturday evening, Paris and several other French cities go under a nighttime curfew that will last at least a month. England is banning mixed household gatherings in the capital and other areas, and Italy’s most populous region is limiting bar openings and suspending sports events.

The need for action in France was underlined as the country recorded another record for new cases, with over 32,000 registered in 24 hours.

That is pretty sad, Pinky—700?

I need to take more interest in politics again.

2020—a year I will be glad to turn my back on.

However, nothing but the most minor twinge in the titanium hip for a few days. Did a nerve or tendon get squeezed or was it an infection? All I could think about (having googled) was needing another operation, another bloody delay in getting to the block. Hopefully the Victorians will be sensible when restrictions are eased and no second (third?) flareup happens!

Mind you, SA has not lifted border restrictions from Victoria. Well, it is not even November yet, not obsessing about that. Can fly to/from Tassie but don’t want that hassle!

If the ops haven't worked to date, it is unlikely more will be better.

Unless of course you received a bung prosthetic ( ie Class action)

Go to a physio and get some massage on your hip and attendant tendons etc. It may help.

I was told at least 35 yrs ago I'd need a hip replacement, because I had a rather disastrous motorbike accident when in my late 20's.
Not for me, the knife and the surgeon's table.

Seems you aren't even watching the News. ? Hope u r o k .
I have been up and down about getting to my block. The people at the B&B have been great—pencilled in my booking even when it seemed travel might be impossible. The landscaper likewise, put my trees into planter bags and did the heading cut on the malus trees (billed me for it but at least I knew the trees are fine.) Have had to change the booking on the ferry from Sep to Dec (cost me another $130 so $310 in extra costs.)

Then the ongoing worry about Mum—glad I did those long drives, still doing more drives now which interferes with some things but if there is another flare up here the drives will keep her claustrophobia down for some time.

I won’t be there for what is likely Mum’s last christmas—will take her to a nice restaurant late Nov for a private Christmas celebration and will likely do a video hookup on Christmass Day. Probably will catch flak for that. Too bad. I catch flak anyway “Maybe you should cancel your holiday’ was one message I got. Christ trying to organise things from Adelaide is hard enough without that crap. I have worked things as much as possible so sis can keep teaching but Taasie is important to me.

No, the prosthetic is fine. Sometimes some big tendons detach from the hip. I chose the shot (morphine?) in the spine, not gas. Like I said, something transient is all it was, thank goodness! It is still MUCH less pain than having the osteoarthritis now 8 years more advanced. One more replacement when I am in my 80s. That appointment yet ANOTHER complication!

Getting closer to 3 Nov, the appointment re the cochlear implant.

Be nice having a twin bunk cabin to myself, $120 each way instead of $40 or so for a bunk in a 4 bunk cabin. I can’t really climb up to a top bunk anymore nor can I lie on my side so snoring keeping the other 4 guys awake.
